Meet Ela Eckert!

trained as a teacher and studied educational sciences at the universities of Oldenburg/ Germany and Uppsala/ Sweden. She has been focusing on Montessori's Erdkinder (adolescent) concept. Ela Eckert is also a board member of the Deutsche Montessori Gesellschaft (DMG), where her main focus lies on publications.

Ela's specialization:

Adolescent Development in Montessori Education

Montessori Philosophy and Practice for Teenagers

Empowering Educators and Parents of Adolescents

Ela as an author:
Eckert studied the background and circumstances of the development of the concept during Montessori's Indian years from 1939-1946, which led from the vision to the development of a concrete educational concept in close co-operation with her son Mario Montessori. Ela Eckert published her findings in 2001 in a dissertation entitled: Maria und Mario Montessoris Kosmische Erziehung - Vision und Konkretion. Together with Malve Fehrer, she published another book in this context: Kosmische Erzählungen in der Montessori-Pädagogik.

Focus on MM's education for peace
One more focus of her work relates to Maria Montessori's education for peace as the overarching goal of her educational approach. Ela Eckert is interested in Maria Montessori's early commitment to peace as well as in her international network of contacts with people who, like her, were committed to peace, in her famous so-called peace speeches of the 1930s.

trained as a teacher and studied educational sciences at the universities of Oldenburg/ Germany and Uppsala/ Sweden. Maria Montessori's approach to education in its various aspects became the focus of her studies early on; after obtaining a Montessori diploma and gaining practical experience with 6-12year-old children in Uppsala, she chose the fascinating topic of the origins of Cosmic Education for her dissertation and completed her doctorate at the University of Oldenburg in 2001. As her students grew older, Montessori's Erdkinder concept became another exciting adventure in her work, which continues to this day.

Ela Eckert is also a board member of the Deutsche Montessori Gesellschaft (DMG), where her main focus lies on publications; in this capacity she is active in the editorial team of the journal DAS KIND, but also engaged in editing Montessori texts in Germany.
