Session 1

Foundation: Connecting Montessori and Wellbeing

In this foundational session, we will delve into the exciting connections between Montessori education and the science of happiness and wellbeing, uncovering how the two align to form a powerful basis for positive growth. Discover how Montessori principles cultivate meaningful habits, skills, and attributes—such as mindfulness, resilience, and a sense of purpose—that empower children to thrive across multiple dimensions of life, fostering their overall wellbeing. You will leave this session feeling inspired and equipped with insights and strategies to enrich the Montessori experience, nurture holistic development, and support human flourishing.

Session 2

Movement: A Path to Holistic Wellness

In this second session, we will take an in-depth look at physical activity, a key pillar of wellbeing and a cornerstone of Montessori pedagogy. Together, we will discover the positive effects of movement, not only on physical health but also across multiple dimensions of wellbeing. We will also revisit Dr. Montessori’s original approach to physical activity as an integral part of life and its crucial role in whole-child development. After dispelling common myths about movement in Montessori education, we will explore Montessori-aligned strategies to promote child wellbeing by maximizing and enriching physical activity throughout the learning experience.

"Happiness is not something ready-made. It comes from your own actions."

-Dalai Lama

Session 3

Community: Thriving Together

In this third session, we will take another deep dive—this time into the role of social relationships in fostering wellbeing. Drawing on insights from happiness research, we will explore how meaningful connections form the foundation of resilience and a fulfilling life. Building on this understanding, we will examine how different core elements in Montessori education help cultivate strong, trust-based relationships and nurture prosocial sentiments like empathy and solidarity. We will also delve into how Montessori practices foster a sense of community where collaboration and positive bonds thrive, enhancing both individual and collective wellbeing.

Session 4

Prepared Adult: From Burnout to Flourishing

In this final session, we shift the focus to you—the prepared adult—emphasizing the importance of your own happiness and wellbeing. Imagine harnessing your Montessori knowledge not only to guide children but also to address burnout and cultivate greater harmony in your own life. Revisiting the six dimensions of wellbeing introduced earlier, we will explore how these concepts and ideas apply to adults as well. A fresh perspective and thought-provoking insights will inspire you to reflect on your own self-care, while relatable strategies—rooted in Montessori principles—will offer actionable steps to support your own journey toward personal fulfillment.
