Adolescence is not a crisis. It is a construction.

Between 12 and 18, the young person is not simply “growing up.”
They are orienting themselves in society, forming identity, and transforming from child to adult.

In this live session, we explore how Montessori understood this extraordinary developmental plane and how we can meet it with clarity, respect, and preparation.

What you will learn:

  • A deeper understanding of the adolescent personality

  • The defining characteristics of the 12 to 18 plane

  • The developmental role of adolescence in the human journey

  • How to support optimal adolescent development

  • How adults must educate themselves to truly respond to adolescent needs

Who it is suitable for:

  • Montessori guides and assistants

  • Professionals working with adolescents

  • Parents

  • Social workers and youth mentors

  • Anyone living with, working with, or curious about adolescents

This session introduces key principles that will be explored more deeply in our upcoming AMI 12–18 Orientation Course.

Meet Your AMI Trainer!

About Françoise Sansoni

Hello! My name is Françoise and I live in Canada. I am a 12-18 trainer for AMI, with diplomas also at 0-3 and 3-6. I have worked mostly in North America in a variety of education settings with all these age groups. I am specifically drawn to adolescence because of the importance of the work these young people accomplish in order to orient and adapt to society, and my goal is to support anyone who is interested in this topic. I am bilingual in French and English; I grew up in the UK and am French on my mother’s side.
