What is the role of an assistant in the classroom?
Assistant in a Montessori classroom is an indispensable part of the environment. Their main role is not to teach or present materials but to support the lead teacher in maintaining peace and order in the classroom. The assistant observes the children to understand their needs and knows when to intervene and when to give them space for their own discovery.
Through careful observation and respect for each child’s individual pace, the assistant helps create an environment that fosters independence, self-confidence, and natural discipline. At the same time, they are a crucial pillar of support for both the teacher and the children.
