AMI 3-6 Trainer, Program Director for the AMI 3-6 Teacher Training at the University of South-Eastern Norway

Madlena Ulrich is originally from Germany, where she attended a Montessori elementary school herself as a child. She moved to Norway as an adolescent and later earned a bachelor's degree as a preschool teacher at the University College of Vestfold, Norway. She took her original AMI 3-6 training at Mount St. Mary's Montessori College in Dublin, Ireland, and has worked in the classroom since 1995, including years spent supporting the development of Montessori in Norway and serving as Vice President on the board of the national association NMF.

In 2008, Madlena began her own Training of Trainers, spending two years with Molly O'Shaughnessy in Minnesota and a summer course with Ulla Wikefeldt in Sweden. Since 2010, she has trained students in Norway, working closely with Carla Foster, AMI 6-12 Trainer, and is part of the AMI China Faculty, having worked on courses in China, Russia, Romania, and Thailand.

The course is designed for educators, assistants, caregivers, and professionals seeking an internationally recognized Montessori qualification for working with children aged 3 to 6.
What will I learn in the AMI 3-6 Diploma Course?
You will gain a deep understanding of Montessori principles and the developmental needs of children aged 3 to 6, learn how to observe children and support their independence in a carefully prepared environment, and develop hands-on skills for the classroom, including creating and using Montessori materials.
How is the AMI 3-6 Diploma Course structured?
The course starts on April 26, 2027, and is made up of 6 onsite modules in Prague, Czechia, with both onsite and online attendance required. The study language is English, with interpretation in Czech, and written assignments can be submitted in English, Czech, German, Russian, or Ukrainian.
How many hours of training does the course include?
The course includes 490 hours of intensive training at the training center, 176 hours of practice with Montessori materials under supervision, 600 hours of independent reading, study, and written assignments, 90 hours of observation in Montessori 3-6 classrooms, and 90 hours of practice teaching, plus 20 books of obligatory and recommended reading and a minimum of 90% attendance in all course activities.
Is the AMI 3-6 Diploma recognized internationally?
Yes. Graduates receive the AMI Diploma, awarded by the Association Montessori Internationale, founded by Dr. Maria Montessori. This qualification is globally recognized and allows graduates to work in Montessori environments worldwide.
