"His intelligence becomes whole and complete because of the vision of the whole that has been presented to him."

Maria Montessori

Do you recognize this in your environment?

You have outdoor space, but it does not yet work as a true extension of the 6-12 prepared environment.

  • "We have outdoor space, but we don't know how to use it in a Montessori way." The playground was designed for younger children and does not reflect the needs of 6-12-year-olds.

  • "Outdoor time often becomes just free play" instead of meaningful, purposeful work that supports Cosmic Education.

  • "We don't have a large campus." You are not sure whether authentic outdoor opportunities are possible in a small space.

This workshop will help you turn the outdoors into a living part of Cosmic Education, whatever the size of your space.

What this workshop is really about:

Children build knowledge and a connection to nature through their own direct experience. When they are given the opportunity to work in nature, they explore, experiment, compare, look for relationships and stretch their imagination.

For children aged 6-12, the outdoor environment is where Cosmic Education comes to life. Gardens, wildlife, weather, geography and practical projects become living experiences that help children understand their place in the universe.

In this workshop, we will explore a wide range of outdoor opportunities that reflect AMI principles and respond to the developmental needs of children aged 6-12. Together, we will examine how meaningful experiences in nature can foster scientific inquiry, collaboration, imagination, responsibility and purposeful work, extending the prepared environment far beyond the classroom.
