There is the ideal Montessori way

And then there is the everyday reality

  • Many of us call our Montessori schools bilingual - but the combination of Montessori and bilingualism is lagging
  • You might not have a Montessori-trained second language (L2) teacher for the 6-12 age group, or perhaps your English-speaking Montessori guide lacks experience in teaching English as a second (or foreign) language
  • It's a puzzle for all involved, striving to deliver their best in Montessori classrooms without a space for collaborative idea-sharing
  • You don't have the time or the resources to train L2 teachers in Montessori and Montessori guides in L2

Join our mentoring program -

it can be the start of a change for the better!

In the mentoring program you will:

  • Assess your current L2 teaching knowledge, skills and abilities and how to merge them with the Montessori principles
  • Tailor language materials to better meet the needs of your students
  • Think about different presentation structures
  • Collect strategies for effective communication with colleagues about the L2 learning process
  • Design personalized actionable steps to take your L2 work in Montessori setting to a higher level

Find your unique way!

This program was created to help you to find your unique ways to introduce second language given the specific local context of your Montessori school.

This is not a Montessori training program

It does not teach how to implement bilingual Montessori in the ideal way.

Designed by an L2 Specialist

It is designed by an L2 Specialist working in an AMI Montessori school which does not have AMI 6-12 trained English guides in all classrooms.

We will dig deep into the following questions:

  • Where am I now, as an L2 professional at our school?
  • What are the language needs of my pupils?
  • How do my language materials meet the language needs of my pupils?
  • What is the structure of my L2 presentations?
  • How do I communicate what I do with the pupils with my colleagues?
  • What steps will I take to implement my main takeaways from this mentoring into my work?

You will formulate your own answers to these specific questions within the context of your school program and position. Additionally, you will draw inspiration from the answers provided by fellow participants and practical tips shared by the mentor.

Are there going to be any assignments?

No and yes. No, there will be no graded assignments during the program or at the end of it. No, you will not have to turn anything in. But, in order for the mentoring process to take place, you will need to answer for yourself 3 questions related to the session topic before the online session and then reflect upon your experience after the session is over.
