About Amy Williams

Do you recognize this in your work with children?

Even with the best intentions, labels can quietly shape what we notice, expect, and how we respond to a child.

You want to support each child fully, but:

  • You find yourself reacting to behavior instead of understanding what is behind it
  • You feel stuck between wanting to support the child and not knowing how to respond in the moment
  • Labels influence expectations sometimes without you realizing
  • It can be difficult to separate the child from the behavior
  • You are looking for ways to support children without limiting them

This workshop supports you in seeing the child more clearly and responding with intention.

What this workshop is really about:

To truly support a child, we must first learn to see them clearly.

In Montessori, we speak about observation, yet in practice it is not always easy to separate what we see from what we assume.

Labels, whether formal or informal, can shape how we interpret behavior, lower or fix expectations, and influence how we respond in the moment.

This workshop invites you to slow down and look again, beyond the label and toward the child’s developmental needs.

Through reflection and practical tools, you will explore how to respond with curiosity instead of judgment, and how this shift strengthens relationships, supports independence, and changes the atmosphere of the classroom.
