  • designing observation, assessment and feedback systems

They will have the opportunity to learn from experienced AMI trainer for the Administrator's course and Montessori school principal Sue Pritzker, study alongside other teams from around the world, engage in lively discussions, and share their experiences with others, as well as gain new perspectives themselves.

Course Content

MODULE 1

Policy Prevents Problems!

School leadership often works from a “reactive mode”, managing issues or difficulties as they arise. Proactive thinking and implementation of policies takes time, but puts in place best practice guidelines to follow WHEN the issues arises, avoiding drama and disruption.

  • No one likes surprises
The foundation will be set for your team to collectively create job descriptions and parent and staff handbooks.
  • Sell Montessori not a compromise
Implementing authentic Montessori creates a cohesive communication plan.
  • Proactive, not Reactive
Problems happen but having a plan of action when they do builds parental confidence, trust and staff cohesion.

MODULE 2

The Assessment Continuum

Personal growth for your staff and students is best supported with a continuum of tools; goal setting, observation, feedback and self evaluation.  None of these tools will be effective if they stand alone.

  • Hire people, not resumes
Hire like you are building for the future, because you are, even when the global workforce is changing.
  • observation-assessment-feedback-evaluation
Did you know that all these are actually ONE WORD? Or at least in an administrator's vocabulary they should be.
  • The ideal state of the Montessori guide:
A simple, efficient, self-evaluation system exists and it is nearly ideal.

MODULE 3

Responsive Teaching, Responsive Leading

Teachers, children and support staff are all on a path to growth and continuous improvement. Adjusting school hierarchy and sharing leadership supports a responsive learning environment.

  • Friendliness with error for all
Mistakes provide the material for self-correction, are essential to skill building and foundational to Montessori process.
  • Conversations for growth
Problems not discussed and resolved are like a hamster on a treadmill - designed to repeat. Brave conversations build a healthy school culture.
  • How to solve problems (for lasting solutions)
Community members watch how the leader navigates difficulties and challenges. How do we consistently put the community at ease?
